What fits on a shelf?
It's possible to load a shelf with a great variety of items and capability if careful attention is given to the size of the components.
Power Sockets - We suggest American style cigarette lighter and European (e.g., Powerlet, BMW) power sockets. These are by far the most popular sizes.
Switches - Round Rocker Switches work better than large rectangular rocker switches. For example, the 47 by 23 mm rectangular switches from Eastern Beaver ( a fine a reputable supplier) are too large for the shelf. Smaller round rocker switches work better. See the lighted LED rocker switches on our electrical accessories page.
Gear Indicators - The smaller GiPro DS fits. The larger GiPro with ATRE is too large.
Volt Meters - Any of the round LED multi color LED battery monitors will easily fit. Datel meters, both rectangular and the new round versions, will fit as will the "Add-On Accessories" volt meter and thermometer. The rectangular version works better on first generation V-Stroms. Most, but not all of the digital volt meters from China sold on ebay are too large. It's best to check first.
